An Exploratory Study of Community Center Based Pilot Project for Cognitive Function Improvement Among the Service Participants and Providers

Abstract
Objective : This study is to explore the perspectives and feedbacks on the participants and providers of the community based pilot project for cognitive function improvement.

Methods : Focus Group Interviews and thematic analysis were performed in order to examine the experiences of the service participants and providers to build more detailed and elaborately designed service model.

Results : There were participants¡¯ high satisfaction for the program, despite the participation with initial reluctance. Service providers made positive evaluation in the effects of the service. However, there were needs of service improvements in individualized service provision, professionalism, and staffs. Also, there were strong stigma to dementia among older adults without cognitivedecline.

Conclusion : It is necessary that social stigma to dementia should be removed and there should be community campaign to raise awareness and challenge the stigma of dementia. There should social integration between older adults with cognitive decline and with decline and the developments of individualized programs for them.
